What is SEO and how does it work?
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is the optimisation of website pages to help search engines such a Google rank you higher which then increases the amount of visits you get from potential customers. We don’t just focus on Google as there are others but we find our clients benefit more when Google (being the largest) is at the forefront of our work. Our Team at Belmont & Stratton are well trained in the Google algorithm, they know to work on certain elements such as ‘keyword density’ (using certain words on the website within the target niche that people use when searching google) and ‘backlinks’ (links on other websites leading back to your site) as Google uses these to calculate the relevance and authority of your website against others in your niche. So then what? Well Google uses all this info to decide where to rank you i.e. page 1, 2, 3 etc
How do I improve the page load speed of my website?
Yikes, well this is a complicated question but there are some simple solutions. One of the main things that slow down a website are images. The size of good quality images tend to be large, often too large and with that comes a large file size. When your browser loads that large image it can take longer to display, this isn’t good as Google measures your page speed when deciding on ranking you. So we suggest reducing the image size first as often the image is much larger than what the web page requires and then we suggest running it through a compression tool so the file size reduces further but with no loss in quality. There are a bunch of free and paid software that you can find on Google.
Servers can also delay your website loading, we suggest speaking to us about the server options out there as sometimes although some may be cheap they will be harming your business in the long run costing you more money.
